Kaytee Rose Hime
Quick update with some pictures done with the lovely model Kaytee Rose Hime
Went down and joined the local Strobist group for their July meetup. I wasn’t really heavily involved this month in organizing things which turned out letting me spend more time shooting which was a nice change. We were shooting in a warehouse and luckily were able to make use of the roof. Plenty of fun had by all, and I highly encourage aspiring photographers to join the group. Just go to their website for more information.
While most people would be trying to stay indoors when the temperature is 20 below Fahrenheit, I decided to keep with my plans of backpacking in Denali National Park in the middle of December.  So one day before the shortest day of the year, I started into the park with a 70lbs pack and some snowshoes. Overall, it was quite the experience! Some of it pleasant, some of it miserable, but I would totally do it again.  Since the name of the game was survival, carrying camera gear was not a part of the plan. I did bring a small point and shoot and was able to get a few interesting pictures.  Here are some pictures from the trip.
I was asked by another photographer if I wanted to join him on shoot for the local haunted house called “Scream at the Beach.”  It seemed like a really cool gig, and I decided to tag along. Ended up having a blast and getting a few really interesting captures.
Zuzzie wanted to add more pictures to her portfolio but this time with a more Victorian theme. Luckily I knew a great house to use for this shoot, and it turned out really well. A few select pictures below:
I have completed my second set of Nocturnes this week. I hope to have them up for prints very shortly. Probably will be ready this weekend.
As always, prints are available in a variety of large sizes, all printed on archival paper in your choice of gloss or matte. Framing and licensing is available as an option, but you need to contact us directly.
Here is the latest set of Nocturnes, now available for prints.
Got together with the guys over at PDX Strobist for another shoot and educational meet-up. I have been helping them to get organized, and setup the new website for them as well as just having a great time taking pictures at the meets. Here are a few shots that I think really came out great:
Not really anything stellar shot today, but I went ahead and took a picture of this gorgeous knife. It was a belated birthday gift from friends, who knew that I had lots one just like it. Very happy to have it’s twin. Actually, I am sort of happy how I was able to get the reflection to completely show the bottom of the knife without the screw I was using to prop it up.
Trip to Ikea, I just love their bright building and lights
And a quick one setup for a themed shoot on “Financial Planning”
A few people were wondering just how big the Nikon 600mm F4 is compared to something more “mundane”. Here is a quick shot of what it looks like in comparison to a Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR lens.
Two shots of the moon now available for prints.
Here is the eclipse at almost totality
And here it is at full phase afterwards
Decided I would pull out the big guns for the eclipse that is going to happen tonight. If all goes well it will be a clear night and I should be able to get some good shots. For those that need to know, it’s a Nikon 600mm F4 AF-S II lens sitting on a carbon fiber tripod with Kirk Photo Ballhead.
Here is a couple of quick snapshots I did before going out the other night. Taken with off camera flash, remotely fired with Nikon Creative Lighting System, but could have been done just as easy with a TTL Sync cord.
Been playing with the concept of using a light table for product photography lately. Not completely happy with the results, but it’s a good start. Figured I would share my first attempts and general setup.
First a couple a quick test… I thought I would try a small clear object
Here is a good example of how the table can add depth to the product. In this case an older lens I wanted to sell online.
Lastly, here is what the whole thing looks like setup. I am using Nikon’s Creative Lighting System to remotely control all the flashes from the camera.
Taking a trip to Seattle, I had to make a small trip to Centralia, WA for some work. While there I ran into a crazy art house. Guess I need to remember to get off the freeway more often.
Work on our new office is nearly done! We have completed the lighting, painting, and moving in the furniture. Next up is getting some of our prints into large frames and up on the walls. We even added a nice couch so that customers can sit and review their prints on site.
Some quick pictures:
Well regardless if you agree with that or not, you can shoot their portraits just like a persons. Here is a few from a portrait session for a cute little Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
Hope everyone has had a great year, and we wish everyone the best. We are looking forward to the new year. As you can see covering Santacon left me beat!
Went out and tried to get a few more shots for my Nocturnes series but didn’t really come across anything that was working for me. Here is a few interesting shots that I did get, however:
